BVLOS Corridor Qualification & Ground-Truth Surveys

Beyond-visual-line-of-sight approval will be won on evidence. Your DEMs, LIDAR tiles and obstacle databases say what the corridor was. We fly it and certify what it is — and hand you the delta as an exhibit.

01The epistemic gap

Your data says what the corridor was. A safety case needs what it is.

Every BVLOS applicant holds elevation models, LIDAR tiles and obstacle databases of mixed vintage. What none of them hold is verified correspondence between that record and deployed reality. The gap between the two is where safety cases fail — and it is invisible from a desk.

Route qualification, applied to the low-altitude corridor.

Rail and telecom have qualified linear routes for decades: survey the path, certify it fit for the operation. We bring that discipline to the BVLOS corridor — so the output slots directly into your operational-area characterization and risk assessment.

02·1 — DEFINE

Corridor definition & desk study

Route geometry, lateral buffers, and a reconciliation inventory of every source you already hold — DEM vintage, LIDAR tile dates, obstacle-database cycles. The desk study states what the record claims, so the flight can test it.

02·2 — FLY

Ground-truth survey flight

Calibrated capture along the corridor: obstacle verification, canopy height sampling, crossing inventory (wires, structures, towers), with capture metadata logged for every frame. VLOS operations under Part 107 — the survey does not wait for the rule it supports.

02·3 — RECONCILE

Delta report — record vs. field

Every divergence between the record and the surveyed condition, keyed to your own database identifiers: confirmed, absent, moved, grown, new. The delta table is the product — it is the exact list of things your safety case would otherwise assert wrongly.

02·4 — CERTIFY

Qualification exhibit set

Corridor profile sheets, verified obstacle register, imagery evidence with capture conditions, and a signed survey statement — formatted as exhibits for the application, not as maps for a wall.

Every deliverable is shaped for the reader who decides: a regulator or a safety team assembling an operational-area characterization.

04Qualification region

Sixteen counties. Four states. One river valley.

Primary coverage for corridor qualification is the lower Missouri River corridor country — the tri-state seam where our base sits inside the region, not at the end of a ferry flight.

06Engagement

Qualify the corridor before the rule asks you to.

Part 108 is proposed rulemaking; the operators who move first will file with evidence already in hand. A desk study of your existing corridor data is the natural first engagement — it costs little and tells you exactly where your record is thin.
